funny muscles twitching

late afternoon yesterday i sat up close to mark on the sofa while he watched the last 20mins of the rugby. it was so comforting. he shouted at the tv while i read my book and felt each of his muscles twitch as his body was trying to play the rugby game. his legs were pushing in the scrums and his arms were nudging the ball.
it was so funny...i love him!

duo life modelling

Last night my husband Mark joined me as a life model for artists.

I model alone weekly for the group but it was fun to work with Mark for a change.
We did a few standing 15 minute poses then a sitting half hour one which they asked us to go back to for longer after the break. Then we did one long pose, lying beside each other and got a little chilled because i couldn't fit the heater on the platform with us both on it!

I didn't relax as much as i usually do cos i was so aware of Mark and wondering if he was comfy and warm. I think it was a little strange for Mark at first as he's not seen me working 'nude' before and he is used to me be 'naked' for his eyes only.

Next week I'm doing Degas inspired poses so a towel will be my prop...I will miss Mark, maybe we will work togther again sometime.

shopping stress... not me

having done some work for a local art gallery this morning, mum and i went into darlington to do some shopping. The day was sunny, i got the olive green mascara i needed but unfortunatly the overlocker i wanted had been sold to someone else.

Mum bought a maxi dress in TK MAX, it wasn't really the best colour on her but she loved it, and with a bit of tweaking here and there and with the right hair clip it will be great.

Looking for a coat got a bit stressful. for mum that is.
i hope i never get stressed shopping...i love it, even when clothes arn't made long enough, shoes arn't made flat enough, fabric isn't made interesting enough and frames arn't made square enough...i think it makes it even better when i find something thats fits me or looks great on someone i'm helping to dress.

anyway, I found mum the perfect coat and me a good sexy bra...so all is well.

contentment

Mark was waiting for me to join him in the bath when i got in today.

A friend is going to have a baby (saw the scan on facebook), excited for him.

now i'm going to order a takeaway...what more could i want in life?

hmmm...not going to think about that one too much, i'll just enjoy being content in this moment.

old friends

Had a call today from someone I haven't seen or spoken to in 15 years!
It was good to catch up and it made me smile.

Its strange how friends come and go. Even stranger when at the time you were so close but then your lives moved on in different directions or to different towns, countries even. I guess it takes both to 'want to' and/or 'need to' remain close friends...who knows? Some last, others don't.

I wonder how many of my current close friends will still be in touch in 15 years time? And how many others I will be lucky enough to make friends with in the future?

note to self...must take photos and keep memories.

Time to Volunteer

I was talking to a neighbour yesterday about her wanting to “do some volunteer work somewhere” but she wasn’t sure how she was going commit to something because of fitting it around her work.

why volunteer? Maybe because …

  • a charity has helped your family/friend and you want to give something back.
  • you are retired and want to stay active, get out the house, meet other people and do some good.
  • you love God and all he has created.
  • it will help you gain work experience.
  • you are employed by a charity and believes in its work so do extra voluntary hours to further its work.
  • your company release their employees to help a local charity (which, by the way, I think is great).
  • you can travel and see the world at the same time.

My husband volunteers at a local sports club because using the gym is part of his lifestyle and he enjoys seeing it benefit others. I’ve volunteered for youth organisations my whole life and now I guess it’s just a part of me... also (and sorry if I sound like Miss Congeniality "World peace!") I do think everyone should do their bit for justice.

So…why not choose a local charity that you believe does good work, visit them and think about what skills you could offer. Then, how to fit it into your diary? Once a month? Once a week? A one off project? Don’t be put off by a large commitment and don’t use it as an excuse, start small and if you want to get more involved later, you can.

Remember…we all find time for what it is we really want to do.

normal weekend? or not?

just looked this up... "normal refers to a lack of significant deviation from the average"

with that in mind, i'll let you judge for yourself.

Our weekend started with my husband being sent home early from work because an angry lady had driven unto his foot and up his leg. He was ok but a bit shaken having 'stared death in the face'. Then the kids came for the night, Ben was worried about losing his iPod and Nat had a friend staying. We all ate pizza and watched films.

Saturday morning Ben slept late (just so you know that is 'a significant deviation from the average') and then we had a visit from the police about Fridays 'incident'... i love living in an open plan house but realised i needed to tread a little more carefully when coming out the bathroom with a visiting policeman present. Anyway i sorted Natalie out with some 'little shorts' (dont ask)to wear under the very short dress she was wearing to go into town and then did a quick fix on Bens jeans with three safety pins as he was leaving the house cos they were ripped up to the knee at the back of one leg.

Saturday evening Mark and I were walking through the graveyard to meet my parents at Spice Island when we noticed a young couple 'at it' behind the grave stones... i still can't get the image out of my head... the young mans 'pale full moon' going up and down, up and down... Sorry but they could have waited till it was a little darker!

Sunday, Mark held the cat down on his lap while i clipped him, hopefully no more chocking on hair balls. It was both sunny and snowing (odd?) so Mark kindly gave me a lift up to work and then did some DIY on what will be our new shower room. The weekend finished with food, TV, cuddles and sleep.

Normal? or not?
